The two cottages form part of an extensive farm where citrus fruit, grapes, decidious fruit, Rooibos tea and vegetables are produced and livestock is kept. The cottages are ideally situated for outdoor opportunities like mountain biking, hiking, farm tours, bird watching and fishing and swimming in farm dams. Both cottages can serve as a base from where the area can be explored. The town of Clanwilliam and the wild flowers are a mere 50 km to the north, the Cederberg wilderness area approx. 50 km to the north east and the coast at Lambert's Bay 60 km to the north west. Beautiful views over the Citrusdal valley. |  | | RATES: R300 for 2 people per night + R50 per additional guest | Some of the walking trails offer unsurpassed views of the valleys on either side of the Piekenierskloof mountain. Visible on to the south on a clear day are Table Mountain and the Swartland, with the Cederberg Mountains to the north and the Atlantic Ocean at Elands Bay to the west. See some of these views in the photo gallery below. The beautiful swimming pool is at Nuwedam, for guest to use on those glorious hot summer days. Paardekop guests have access to a huge farm dam within walking distance. Ask about guided farm tours, where you can see some of the farming activities like fruit drying, picking or meet the farm animals. | There is a spectacular lookput point on the farm with stone tables and benches. The Bakenkop hiking trail can also be started from here. if you would like to braai at this spot, please make arrangements with Louise. A fee of R50 is charrged if you are going to have a braai, but if you are only having sundowners or going for a hike, it is free of charge. HOW TO GET THERE: From the Paardekop turn-off, where the tar road ends, it is 700m further. On your left you will see an old "BP Boerdiens" sign board. Turn left here. On top of Piekenierskloof mountain pass, pass Kardoesie farmstall on your left and look out for the Paleisheuwel turn-off. Follow the gravel road for 0,9km and turn off to Nuwedam or carry on for 5,2 km to turn off to Paardekop. | |  |
